this song is an old nergro spirtitual and it was used to get slaves to the north to freedom , when the slaves would go into the water ther sent would leave them , making it hard for the dogs to track , and the girls dressed in red and dressed in blue were conductors of the underground rail road , now that you kno this infromation . listin to this song again and you will see a whole new meaning to it .
